1. Perfect Friction
Perfect Friction is a group of young musicians who came together through playing at sessions in Wicklow Town. The band features seven trad musicians and a world-class vocalist, Louise Kelly.
The band’s music ranges from high-energy trad sets with a full range of instruments (fiddle, flute, uilleann pipes, concertina, accordion, whistle, bodhran, guitar, piano), to pop and rock songs tastefully arranged with a trad theme. The musicians, all from Wicklow, Dublin and Wexford, include four All-Ireland champions and collectively they deliver a sound that will have your foot tapping and will leave you wondering what the magic ingredient is.
Perfect Friction formed in early 2012 when seven musicians who had been playing traditional Irish music sessions together in Wicklow town decided to enlist the services of a talented vocalist and put a new sound on the road.
Blending classic contemporary tunes with traditional rhythms has become the hallmark of this band and their repertoire will appeal to young and old alike.
2. Irish Rat Pack Band
Jason O’Callaghan’s Irish Rat Pack are celebrating after becoming the first band in Irish history to go on the cover of a wedding magazine. The band are also following up on the success of being picked by RTE’s Afternoon show to perform at the wedding of the year live on air by performing this year for Michael Flatley at the VIP black tie dinner in his honour by the Variety Club in Dublin’s Four Seasons hotel.
